Welcome to my journal for my hike of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). I will begin Hiking on April 19, 2018 at the Mexican border in Campo, CA and if the stars align and the trail gods are willing, I will finish at the Canadian border in Washington by the end of September.
The PCT is a 2,659 mile trail that winds its way through the mountain ranges of California, Oregon and Washington.

You can play along at home by following this blog. Just click on the link to the right and add your email address. I truly appreciate any and all followers and support.
You can also locate me on a map by clicking on the “Where’s Dan?” link to the right. That will show where my GPS tracker pinged the satellite each hour for the past seven days.
Please feel free to comment on any post. Once I begin hiking, I may not respond to comments, due to spotty or nonexistent cell coverage and internet access. But I will love getting and reading your comments, thoughts and encouragements.
I am new to social media but if it works (and if I’m inclined) I may post more photos to my Instagram account (dansoyka), which may or may not post them to Facebook. Another link to the right for Instagram photos.
Thank you for following my blog!
